Hi, I’m Kris.

BLOG #001

It’s summer 2024 and I am starting my first blog, 30 short years after the medium was created.

I have been a social scientist since I started graduate school in 1992, a neurodivergent human being since I was born in 1969, and the parent of neurodivergent kids since my first child was born in 2006. This blog will be a place where I apply insights from all three experiences to offer readers what I hope is a useful perspective on matters relevant to neurodiversity, psychology, communication, and human development.

Here is what I’ve learned; may it complement what you have learned.

This is not an academic blog but I will link to relevant research where it informs my perspective. I will share personal stories, lay theories, evidence-based theories, and opinions along with jokes every now and then.

I hope that my thoughts are especially helpful for younger people who are neurodivergent (or suspect that they are) and are struggling to build lives where they feel supported and understood in a world that was not normed for them.

Thanks for reading and I hope you check in regularly!
